Georgia's State Parks

Hazel Berger's Photography Exhibit
Sept. 3rd - Dec. 3rd, 2011 at the REI Perimeter

Which Georgia State Parks have you visited? Hazel Berger's exhibit titled "Georgia's State Parks" is on display on at the REI near Perimeter Mall until Dec. 3rd, 2011.

The photographer has been visiting and blogging the Georgia State Parks since Sept. 2010. To-date she has visited 20 parks. At REI the artist has created a photography show to inform and entertain. The fine art is about the extremes in the parks. She has selected 10 parks that stand out. REI is located at 1165 Perimeter Center W Ste. 200 in Atlanta, Georgia. This show is in conjunction with Atlanta Celebrates Photography. A photographic celebration during the month of October in Atlanta, Georgia.

Tues., October 18 at 7 PM at REI

Berger will be presenting a slide show and lecture on Oct. 18 at REI. There is limited seating and you must pre-register at http://www.rei.com/event/27780/session/34185. The event is free to the public.

The twelve photographs at REI are digital photographs printed on Hahnemuhle Fine Art paper. Each image is 11 x 14" and framed in white to 12.5 x 15.5". The framed pieces are for sale. Each print is a limited edition of 7. You can find the images on-line. Click here.

REI is a perfect venue for this exhibit because REI's customer is interested in the outdoors. The signs for the art include location maps in Georgia. Her hope is that the public will be inspired to travel to Georgia's state parks. As Berger is continuing to visit the parks, she plans to grow the photographic work and display the show in another venue. Learn more about the parks at www.gastateparks.org

Berger has been shooting photographs for over 25 years. After an eye-opening trip to Spain in 2007, she has been showing and selling her work in Atlanta for the past two and half years. "I decided on the airplane on the way home that I was going to be a photographer," said the artist. This year Berger has been selected for Atlanta Celebrates Photography's portfolio review on October 1. Check www.acpinfo.org for more information. Berger is the mother of three children and lives in Marietta, Georgia.
