Magnolias on Magnolia Street | |||
Meet the Artist Friday, May 7th from 12 - 2 PM at the restaurant Hazel Berger pulled together thirty-two images to illustrate her love of the tree. The photographer says,"I love color and this exhibit is all about colors." She worked to bring a variety of shapes and colors and styles together in one show. Most of the images are of Japanese or saucer magnolia blooms. This exhibit included nine mixed media works and twenty-one altered photographs. "My goal is to capture the tree's beauty and bring the blossoms to your attention, so you take notice next year. This flower is one of the few flowers with so many different shapes and views," said the artist. The Roswell Tea House is a prefect venue for an art show. Berger has pulled together a variety of sizes and colors to appeal to different eyes. While creating the show, Berger says,"I was very aware of the different colored walls at the tea house and in client's homes, so I pulled different toned works. Many of the images are framed in standard photography show black, but there are several fun colored frames to appeal to children." I have photographed, altered and printed each of these images to my liking, even the canvas pieces. Berger has been shooting photographs for over 25 years. After an eye-opening trip to Spain in 2007, she has been showing and selling her work in Atlanta for the past two and half years. "I decided on the airplane on the way home that I was going to be a photographer," said the artist. In 2009 Berger began printing her work on canvas and adding paint to add more color and bring the image to life. Berger is the mother of three children and lives in Marietta, Georgia. |
